Today I felt like a change so I made some Strawberry Lassi for myself and my hubby.

Strawberry Lassi

The boys are back into their routine, the little one has officially gone back to school and my older one is finishing his last few weeks at college for the year. It has been one crazy year but the kids are happy to be out the house. I am also happy to have a little space, just have to wait for my hubby to go back to the office now, then the house will be all mine…haha!  I love them to bits but they are hard work  I must admit. A houseful of boys and Max too, don’t you feel a wee bit sorry for me:-(.  Let me get to my Strawberry Lassi Recipe. I know anything Indian sounds like it’s complicated but I promise this is not. It’s just an Indian version of a smoothie. Lassis are actually a staple in India. It consists of fruit and yogurt.

What yogurt should I use?

It is such a simple recipe I actually don’t need to give you much instructions or details. Everything is popped into a blender and blended into a smooth, drinkable liquid. Any plain yogurt works for this recipe although Greek yogurt is the preferred choice. Here in South Africa you no longer find Greek yogurts in local supermarkets but you will find double cream yogurt which is similar. There are times when I’ve used low fat yogurt and it works fine.

Sweetener

You can use any sweetener of your choice. I prefer to use honey in my Strawberry Lassi, however you can add sugar too.

Flavouring

This Strawberry Lassi tastes amazing with cardamom and a hint of rose flavour. I added two teaspoons of rose water so I could taste the rose without it being too overpowering. However you can reduce the amount to suit your palate.
